About the cause
Team Avishkar Hyperloop is an energetic student team of IIT Madras, made of 40+ individuals working tirelessly to design a scalable Hyperloop system in India. The team works out of the Centre for Innovation, IITM, where they research, design, test, and build the Hyperloop prototypes.
In 2019, Team Avishkar's Hyperloop pod prototype made it to the top 10 of the coveted SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition, out of the 1600+ teams globally that started. They were also the only Asian team at the competition finale @ SpaceX HQ, California. Our Alumni have made invaluable contributions to the team's growth and had a pivotal role in their achievement. The enthusiastic support and guidance Team Avishkar receives from the Alumni has been the cornerstone of their success.
After putting in a lot of hard work, they have recently completed the design and simulation of the latest Avishkar Pod 3.0. This design is a quantum leap from previous versions in terms of the technologies and physics implemented. The team is working on many cutting-edge technologies like Linear Induction Motor for propulsion, primary eddy current braking, semi-active suspension system, in-house BMS design, automation of controls, the Hyperloop tube, the novel CIM based levitation mechanism, and much more.
As the team now moves to test and validate the many ambitious and novel subsystem designs they have come up with, the support of alumni is crucial for them to continue their research on this promising sustainable technology.
After testing subsystems, Team Avishkar will manufacture the pod and compete in the upcoming European Hyperloop Week, to be held during 19-25 July'21. The EHW is a global conference to bring together the industry, student teams, and academia working on Hyperloop under one roof. The week will be packed with competitions, system demonstrations, and round tables, creating a boiling pot for exchange, networking, and collaboration. Although the event is being held in person in Valencia, Spain, Team Avishkar will be taking part remotely, considering the safety of all during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The estimate of expenditure on their planned activities is Rs. 54 lacs. Check out the brochure to know more.
