The IIT Madras Badminton Team has long been a symbol of excellence, representing our institution with pride and determination. Over the years, our team has demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication, consistently achieving success on the court. Recently, our efforts contributed to the sports contingent's victory in the overall general championship, a remarkable feat after 12 years. This achievement underscores our potential to reach even greater heights and continue the legacy of the IIT Madras Badminton Team.

To support this growth and ensure sustained success, we propose the establishment of an Alumni Fund dedicated to the advancement of the IIT Madras Badminton Team.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Both the men's and women's badminton teams have achieved remarkable success at the annual Inter-IIT Sports Meet. The women's team has secured the gold medal three consecutive times from 2017 to 2019, followed by back-to-back bronze medals in 2022 and 2023.

The men's team has also excelled, clinching the gold in 2017, silver in 2019, and bronze in 2022. These achievements reflect the teams' unwavering commitment to excellence and their consistent performance.

HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US?

Badminton, as an inherently expensive sport, requires proper gear for both training and competition to ensure optimal preparation for our players. While the IITM Gymkhana provides essential items such as shuttles and a limited number of rackets, additional equipment like non-marking shoes, jerseys, and specialized training gear, including dumbbells, are vital for improving the players' performance. Many of our badminton team members come from underprivileged backgrounds and may lack the financial means to acquire these necessities independently. Although the IITM Gymkhana makes every effort to meet the team's requirements, it must also allocate resources across a range of other sports.

ACCOUNTABILITY

To maintain the trust of our alumni and ensure responsible management of funds, a supervisory committee will oversee and audit all transactions made by the team. This committee will protect against any potential misuse of funds and uphold the principles of transparency and accountability.

Your contributions would enable us to invest in the essential equipment required for our team to train more effectively, compete at higher levels, and continue representing IIT Madras with excellence at tournaments.
