The AI Club at IIT Madras, a burgeoning hub of innovation, harnesses the potential of artificial intelligence to solve complex problems and foster technological advancements. With a dedicated team of 50 students, our club has quickly established itself as a leader in AI research among the IITM community, committed to nurturing and expanding AI knowledge and application.
Our members have consistently excelled, winning gold in 2022 and bronze in 2023 at the Inter IIT Tech Meets, and securing top positions at major competitions like Convolve. These accolades testify to our technical prowess and innovative spirit. Through projects that range from environmental sustainability to healthcare, we apply AI to make meaningful societal contributions.
Challenges We Face:
Despite our achievements, our progress is constrained by limited computing resources. The demands of AI research, especially in areas like deep learning and training of large models, surpass the capabilities of our existing infrastructure. We require additional funding to increase our access to cloud services like AWS and Google Cloud. Furthermore, investing in our own physical infrastructure will not only diminish our reliance on cloud computing but also significantly reduce long-term costs.
The breakdown of our estimated budget which will make us sustainable for years to come, which amounts to 25 lakhs, is provided in the accompanying presentation. We kindly request your support for projects that are poised to shape a bright future.

Enhancing Research Capabilities: By equipping us with a state-of-the-art AI workstation, we can train more complex models and experiment. This upgrade will significantly speed up our research processes and expand the scope of our projects.
Sustaining Competitive Excellence: The funding will bolster our hackathon team, renowned for its innovation and success in securing top honors at competitions. As our hackathon team has expanded, our institute’s budget allocation has regrettably not kept pace. This will help us foster talents and compete with other top universities.
