IITM Zanzibar is India’s first IIT abroad. Launched amidst great fanfare in Oct 2023, the campus is a thriving and vibrant little version of the beloved IITM campus in Chennai. Currently, IITM Zanzibar offers a four-year BS degree in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence and two-year MTech degrees in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, and Ocean Structures. It is an international campus with admissions based on the IITMZ screening tests, and personal interviews conducted by faculty. The campus has already earned a name for itself with its state-of-the-art, interdisciplinary curricula, modern pedagogy, and many student-led activities.
About the cause
In year two, the admissions process for students entering in 2024 is underway. Classes will commence in Oct 2024. IITM Zanzibar expects to have good representation from several countries across the world, particularly Africa and Asia. Several strong and well-qualified applicants seek financial assistance. The support of IITM alumni in facilitating this unique opportunity to access the prestigious IIT Madras ecosystem was instrumental in year one. We hope to extend financial support to deserving candidates this year as well.
How the money will be used
Tuition fees are $12000 per year for the BS & $6000 per year for the MTech students. The scholarship will fund tuition waivers for deserving students.
