Cricket League Sports Event in Applied Mechanics Department

APL 2024 is an annual pioneering cricketing tournament happening in the last week of April this year, scheduled for from 22nd to 26th April, 2023.  With renewed enthusiasm and participation in the events conducted so far by AMSA (Applied Mechanics Scholars Association) team is now launching this cricket tournament at a larger scale.

The event will host more than 100 players both men and women as players, including scientists, students and scholars, professors and staff, with an average department footfall of around 500 individuals as audience. The participation of 110 students and scholars as players speaks for the enthusiasm of the students. 10 profs, 5 office staff and 12 female players will be the part of the teams to have involvement of everyone in the Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering department.

Outcomes of this sporting event:

 1.  Stress relieving for research scholars and students.
 2.  Aids in holistic personality development.
 3.  Bringing together researchers from all labs in the department improving intradepartmental bonding in turn creating a joyful environment.
 4.  Bringing all stake holders of AMBE department together.

Details of the Event:

 1.  Six teams will compete for the coveted winners' trophy.
 2.  In preparation for the tournament, for team selection auction is scheduled in the last week of March.
 3.  Each squad will consist of 15 players, with 10 players on the field.
 4.  Female players and professors' participation is a mandatory requirement, with each team. An additional womens' over will be incorporated into the format, totaling 10+1 overs.
 5.  The matches will be played with green tennis balls on the Sangam ground after 6:00 pm, with late evening matches featuring ground floodlights for maximum visibility and audience.
