The Inter IIT Sports Meet serves as our esteemed annual sports event. IIT Madras has consistently distinguished itself by clinching the General Championship (GC) an impressive 23 times and the Women’s GC on 4 occasions, solidifying its unparalleled position as the unrivaled No.1 among all participating IITs. Notably, in the previous year, after a hiatus of 12 years, our collective endeavors culminated in reclaiming the General Championship, with hockey playing a pivotal role in this remarkable achievement.
LEGACY
Annually, the hockey team of IIT Madras consistently asserts its dominance, contributing significantly to the accumulation of points and providing formidable competition to fellow IITs. With a remarkable legacy, the hockey team has achieved gold medals consecutively for five years from 2009 to 2013, followed by securing silver medals in 2014 and 2017. Notably, in the preceding year of 2023, the hockey team added to its accolades by clinching a bronze medal for IIT Madras, playing an instrumental role in securing the General Championship for the year 2023.
HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US
Hockey, being an inherently expensive sport, necessitates proper gear for both playing and training to ensure the safety of the players. While basic requirements such as good quality sticks, shin pads, and stockings can be sourced from the IITM Gymkhana, additional items including goalkeeper kits, shoes, kit bags, face guards, gloves, and training gear such as kettlebells and dumbbells are essential for optimizing the players' performance. It is important to note that many players within the hockey team come from underprivileged backgrounds and may not have the means to acquire these necessities independently. While the IITM Gymkhana endeavors to provide the basics, it must also allocate resources to cater to the needs of various other sports.

Your assistance during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic was instrumental in overcoming obstacles and fostering team unity.
