Lecture Series on Probability & Stochastics (LPS) Edition XVII

Description

The 17th Lalit P. Singh (LPS) Lecture Series, one of India’s most respected annual mathematics conferences, will be hosted for the very first time at IIT Madras, from December 8–10, 2025.

For nearly two decades, the LPS Lecture Series has rotated among India’s top mathematical institutions — the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), the Institute of Advanced Study in Mathematics, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) — bringing together researchers, faculty, and students from across the world. Hosting it at IIT Madras is both an honour and an opportunity to showcase our vibrant mathematical community.

This year’s edition has already drawn around 135 registered participants, including a strong representation from the Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI). In keeping with LPS tradition, no registration fees are charged, ensuring that students and early-career scholars from all over India can participate freely.

To make this possible, the organisers are seeking ₹20 lakhs in support to cover essential expenses such as speaker travel, student accommodation, and logistical arrangements.

Your contribution, of any size, will directly sustain this spirit of open, inclusive academic exchange and help IIT Madras host a truly world-class mathematics event.
