About the cause
The Centre For Innovation, IIT-Madras is a student-led innovation lab that facilitates creativity and technology. We house teams that represent IIT-M in competitions across the globe forvarious national and international events, namely:
- Team Raftar (Track Racecar: Formula Student; Italy)
- Team Anveshak (Functional Mars Rover: University Rover Challenge; Utah, USA)
- Team Abhiyaan (Self-Driving Vehicle: Intelligent Ground Vehicle Challenge; Michigan,USA)
- Team Amogh (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle: RoboSub Competition; USA)
- Team Nimbus (RC Aeroplane: SAE Competition; USA).
- Festival of Innovation, National Innovation Foundation (Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, India)
- Inter IIT Tech Meet (Location changes every year as it is hosted by different IITs)
- Conferences like INAE Youth Conclave (Jaipur, Rajasthan, India)
Currently, the students pay travel costs out of their own pocket, a situation that demands immediate rectification considering the sleepless months of dedication and hard work investedby each student into the project.
We request alumni to donate generously for supporting the travel and accommodation expenses of the CFI student teams
How the money will be used
To present at these prestigious competitions, the teams need to travel across the nation and abroad. During the summer of 2018, each team member will be incurring an approximate minimum flight expenditure of Rs.50,000. Considering the number of students per team, we require a basic minimum sponsorship of Rs.30,00,000 total for international travel.
For domestic travel, each student generally pays around Rs. 8,000 total. For domestic travel across the nation, we need a basic minimum sponsorship of Rs. 2,00,000 .
