Tree Plantation in IITM Campus

About this cause

Due to Vardah cyclone, we have lost a lot of green cover in the campus (around 650 trees ).

Most of the damaged trees are non-native trees, yielding an insight regarding tree plantation. More native trees are planned to restore the green cover

This initiative will be carried out in two phases :

Phase 1 of Tree Planting:

Approx. 600 trees - Each costing Rs 2000 (includes cost of tree, tree guards, labour, maintenance)

Total costs around Rs-12 Lakhs

Phase 2 will also be in similar scale which costs around Rs-12 Lakhs

All trees are native species, Carefully chosen for shade and for food for the animals ( Click here for the list )

All trees will be at least 10 feet tall

Tree guards to be provided for all trees

Labour (includes digging and planting of trees, use of tractor and trailer to water the trees using recycled water)

You can leave an everlasting mark on your alma mater by adopting a tree in the campus.Your name will be etched on the tree guard, a part of you will always stay with the campus.
