Sometimes life takes an unexpected turn that disrupts and in some cases even jeopardizes a student’s academic journey. Medical emergencies (both to self and family), accident or illness affecting the sole breadwinner or even an unfortunate natural calamity can curb their higher education dreams. The Student Distress Fund at IITM lends a helping hand to students in these moments.

There are more than 500 students who are under the parental income of Rs.1 lakh who would be benefit with some help on the mess fees. The current mess fees is around Rs 19,000/- per semester.

These students have got a Full Tuition fee waiver from IIT Madras.
