In the last 2 years, IIT Madras celebrated a significant milestone by supporting 100 % of the students (with parental incomes between Rs 1-5 Lakhs) who applied for Scholarships. The Alumni Community’s support allowed us to cover all their academic expenses, giving them the freedom to dream of a brighter future.
The current tuition fee for a BTech student is Rs 2 Lakhs per year. For the students with parental income between Rs 1-5 LPA, the revised government Merit-cum-Means scholarship covers 2/3rd of the current tuition fee This still leaves a sum of approximately 1000 USD to be borne by the student.
The Merit-cum-Means Scholarship 2024-25 aims to raise 1000 USD per year for every student in need. The Eligibility and Renewal Criteria include
- Students with annual Parental income between Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 5 lakhs.
- Currently pursuing B. Tech / Dual Degree.
- Student will not be a recipient of any other Scholarship
