Description
Here is a request from our Dean students, IIT MadrasWe all know the havoc the declared pandemic COVID- 19 has been creating across the world. IIT Madras has suspended all the classes and other academic activities as a proactive measure to contain the spread of the virus.
The students have been requested to vacate the campus and get back to their homes. There are about 200-300 students who come from economically difficult backgrounds who need to get back were unable to afford airfares, we helped them with available distress funds.
We further have stranded students whose expenses have to be met until the end of this month. Some staying outside and most are staying inside the campus. There are stranded students abroad who see increased ticket costs and asking for support. Some students who are returning may need some funds because of the family getting COVID affected
For some students we are also providing internet data connection subscriptions etc. to take care of online classes needs.
Thanks to the generous contributions from many of our alumni, so far we have raised Rs. 39 Lakhs and this fund has helped many students to reach their homes safely. As the testing times progress, our students are reaching out to IIT Madras for help.
