A musical awareness about conservation of water

Description

About the cause

The International Center for Clean Water (ICCW) is a new initiative of IIT Madras and its mission is to deliver clean water for all, transform economies and help youth build their careers around water. It is located in the IIT Madras Research Park.

One of its goals is to create awareness about water resources and the value of ‘saving every drop’.

Towards this goal, we are bringing out two short musical videos titled ‘Rivers of India’ and ‘Monsoons’. The videos have been conceived and envisaged by Dr. Kanniks Kannikeswaran, B.Tech (1984), and Distinguished Alumnus (2019) for his contribution to music.

Both videos will be peopled by choruses of IITM students and alumni along with other singers - all assembled virtually. In addition, while ‘Rivers of India’ will feature celebrity singers from different parts of our country, ‘Monsoons’ will feature celebrity dancers. We are requesting the celebrities to perform honorarily towards the cause.

The musical and visual tributes will string together the dozens of rivers, small and large, and the scenes of rain all over India, reflecting a stunning diversity of cultures around the country. We are confident that the videos will connect with citizens in a powerful way to motivate them to harvest rainwater and contribute to protecting our water bodies.

We hope the videos will go viral, reaching out to as many people as possible, bringing them to our web page where they can explore the work being done by ICCW and participate/contribute to our mission to make India, and the world, water secure.

The estimated fund requirement is Rs 5 lakhs for both videos, for composing, editing, audio recording, video footages, orchestration, and finishing. Any excess funds will go towards our corpus as we are a non-for-profit society. We are targeting to launch the videos in October this year.
