Description
This year (2024), we have formed a Physics and Astronomy Guild consisting of students from a variety of backgrounds passionate about physics and astronomy. This guild is a collaboration between Physics Student Society (PSS), the physics department student association and Horizon, the Physics and Astronomy Club of IIT Madras. The guild aims to participate in a variety of national and international competitions and earn praise and acclaim for IITM on an international stage by performing well in these competitions. Guild members receive training and guidance from experienced seniors and professors on a variety of topics in physics to allow them to perform exceptionally well in these competitions.
About Horizon
Horizon is a registered voluntary student organization at IIT Madras, focused on promoting the learning of physics and astronomy. We host talks, observation sessions, and student research projects. Our club provides opportunities for students, from beginners to advanced researchers, to explore the wonders of the universe together.
The funds will help cover expenses related to participation, travel, accommodation, and equipment necessary for the competition. By supporting us, you contribute to empowering young minds to push the boundaries of scientific inquiry and collaboration.
About Physics Student Society
The Physics Students' Society (PSS) is a student-led organization aimed at fostering academic collaboration, community engagement, and extracurricular activities within the department of Physics at IIT Madras. PSS provides a platform for students to explore various aspects of physics outside the classroom, engage in academic competitions, and organize events such as workshops, seminars, and festivals.
The society's initiatives focus on enhancing the overall student experience by promoting both learning and a sense of connection among physics students at the institute, with guidance from faculty members.
