Aligning with the country’s vision of #AatmaNirbharBharat, Developing indigenous automotive technology right here at Chennai, the automotive capital of India, is of vital importance for the country’s growth. At Team Raftar, We research on cutting edge technologies to solve the current problems faced by the automotive industry.
Our innovations include
- Development of high-performance tyres in collaboration with MRF.
- India’s first Indigienous Vehicle Control Unit built around the SHAKTI Processor.
- Lightweight composite material development in collaboration with Brakes India & FibTech.
We incorporate these innovative technology in the racecar we build every year and validate our designs by participating in Formula Student competitions. We are mentored by a board of academic advisors including Prof. Kamakoti (Director, IITM), Prof. Satyanarayanan Sheshadri and Prof. Aravind Kumar Chandiran. Our Alumni have found pioneering companies in the mobility space like Ather, Exponent Energy and Terrero Mobility.
We are the only team in India to win the Formula Bharat Championship consecutively for three years, both in electric and combustion category. We are now all set to bring glory to India & IIT Madras by aiming to be the first Indian team to have a podium finish in the Formula Student Germany, this august.
To achieve this, We are currently facing a major bottleneck in terms of logistics, accommodation and travel of our car, battery pack and team members. International teams whom we compete with operate at 20 times our budget and the estimated expense of our logistics for the Formula Student Germany comes out to be around 30 Lakhs INR. We ask for our alumni to contribute and join us in this electric journey of bringing pride to our institute.
