Description
Team AgniRath: Driving Sustainable Mobility
We are Team AgniRath from CFI, IIT Madras, a team of 30+ undergraduate students dedicated to pushing the limits of sustainable mobility and global solar racing.
From Dreams to Reality
Following our inaugural journey at the 2023 World Solar Challenge (WSC) with our first car, Aarush, we applied our foundational knowledge to develop Aagneya, a high-performance, full carbon-fiber car. In 2025, Aagneya made history as the first Indian car in over a decade to compete in the WSC (Australia), covering 600+ km at speeds of up to 80 km/h.
Aagneya’s Key Features:
- Lightweight Carbon Fiber Aeroshell: Achieved a ~40% weight reduction.
- High-Efficiency Power: Integrated solar modules with ~22% efficiency.
- Advanced Intelligence: Utilized data-driven optimization models and multi-body simulations for peak race performance.
The Next Frontier: Sasol Solar Challenge 2026
We are now targeting the Sasol Solar Challenge in South Africa. This 8-day, 2,500+ km marathon is a grueling test of versatility, featuring diverse elevations and rugged terrain. We aim to prove that Indian engineering can triumph on any stage.
Why We Need You
Taking a high-tech vehicle and a 30-member team to South Africa presents a massive logistical hurdle. Your contributions will fund:
- International Logistics: Shipping the car and equipment.
- Team Support: Travel and accommodation for our student engineers.
- Race Operations: Escort vehicles, trailers, and technical on-ground support.
Join Our Mission, Support Team AgniRath as we represent IIT Madras and India on the global stage.
