We, the students of Prof. Dr. C. Rajendran, across decades come together as one, to honor, recognize, and celebrate a remarkable academic life dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, excellence in teaching, and pioneering research in Operations Management.
For over 40 years, Prof. Rajendran has shaped the intellectual and professional journeys of hundreds of us. His deep insights, sharp thinking, and unwavering commitment to rigor left an indelible mark — not just on our academic training, but on who we are today.
Whether it was his clarity in teaching complex models, his encouraging nudge during thesis defenses, or the humble brilliance with which he inspired us, we were the privileged few to learn from one of the finest minds in the country.
Why We’re Coming Together
As his students, we feel it is our duty — and our joy — to create something timeless that celebrates his contributions to the Department of Management Studies (DOMS), IIT Madras, and the field of Operations Management.
His research has stood the test of time. His mentorship continues to echo in our lives and careers.
What We Intend to Create
In honor of Prof. Rajendran’s legacy, we propose to institute a set of academic and research awards — through collective sponsorship by his students — that will:

Recognize outstanding MBA, M.S, and Ph.D students
Keep his name and values alive in the minds of future scholars.
