Description
Vinayak Gupta, an alumnus of the 2015 batch, passed away due to COVID-19 infection. He completed his Ph.D. in 2015 from the Biotechnology department, IIT Madras. He was working as an Assistant Professor at the Bennett University, New Delhi after his post-doctoral research at the University of Minnesota.
Vinayak was an exceptionally bright and motivated research scholar. His research work at IITM was published as several papers in reputed international journals including a cover-page article in the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology. He was awarded the best Ph.D. thesis award from the Biotechnology department.
IIT Madras wishes to institute an endowment in the name of Dr Vinayak Gupta for an Institute day prize, in the Department of Biotechnology. An annual Institute prize of Rs. 10,000 + (medal/ certificate) requires a donation of Rs. 5 lakh (or equivalent in foreign currency) for 15 years.
