The tradition of honouring one’s professors is something that every IITM alumnus holds close to their heart. Considered the noblest of all professions, the faculty at IIT Madras didn’t just teach. They were the creators of future CEOs, tech leaders, policy makers and much more.
What better way to honour them than to institute a prize in their name. A prize given to a deserving meritorious student that carries the legacy of the professor, the tribute of an alumnus and the dreams of the young student. Each time a student receives this award, your professor’s spirit and teachings live on sparking ambition, nurturing talent, and shaping the leaders of tomorrow. A Guru Dakshina of sorts that lives forever!
At IIT Madras, recognizing academic excellence and rewarding students, research scholars, and faculty members every year is a longstanding tradition. Awards are presented on Convocation Day to celebrate their achievements. These awards are made possible through the generosity of alumni and well-wishers, many of them have established endowments specifically for this purpose. The returns generated from these endowments are used to fund the prizes awarded to deserving recipients.
