Merit-cum-means Scholarship - Changing Lives One Student at a Time
At IIT Madras, we are on a mission to give the gift of education to deserving youngsters to improve their lives. Our scholarship initiative has provided students with a ray of hope whose goals are sometimes crushed by financial limitations. We reached a huge milestone last year, and this year we want you to join us on this amazing adventure.
Last Year's Success
In 2022-23, we proudly supported 490 students whose parental income fell within the range of 1–5 lakhs. For many of these students, pursuing higher education seemed like an elusive dream due to financial limitations. Thanks to the unwavering support of our alumni and donors, we were able to cover all their academic expenses, ensuring that they could focus on their studies and not on the burden of educational costs. The impact of this initiative was remarkable. These 490 students didn't just receive a scholarship, they received a chance at a brighter future, an opportunity to break free from the cycle of poverty, and the means to realise their potential. The stories of their accomplishments and the gratitude in their eyes have fueled our determination to do even more this year.

One Student-One Alumnus-One Year’s Tuition Fee
This year, we are faced with the same challenge, as there are 514 students from underprivileged backgrounds, of which we can only support 362 through existing endowments. It takes $1000 to cover the tuition fees for ONE student for an ENTIRE year. The objective is to provide merit-cum-means based scholarships for the 152 deserving students with full tuition fee for the academic year 2023-24. We will need a scholarship fund of $100,000 to cover these students.
These students have the drive, the talent, and the potential to achieve great things, but unfortunately lack the financial resources to make it happen. We are calling upon our alumni community to join us in supporting these students. We believe that education is the most powerful tool for social change, and with your help, we can make a profound difference in the lives of countless students.
