Team SUAS - Aerial Robotics Team - 2025

Description

IITM’s First International Aerial Robotics and UAV Team

Team SUAS (Student Unmanned Aerial Systems), the Aerial Robotics Team of IIT Madras is a student competition team dedicated to work hands-on in the field of aerospace, robotics, and unmanned systems. Our team consists of 14 members from the departments like Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy & Material Science Engineering, etc. Our mission is to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom knowledge and practical industrial applications, equipping the next generation of engineers with real-world problem-solving skills.

Student Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) 2025

SUAS is an international student program hosted by Robonation in collaboration with US Naval Forces, established to generate, cultivate, and enhance a community of innovators capable of making substantive contributions to the Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS) domain.

SUAS’s problem statement allows us to innovate and explore the unthinkable while ensuring an industry and application-oriented end goal. It requires students to design, integrate, report on, and demonstrate a UAS capable of autonomous flight and navigation, remote sensing via onboard payload sensors, payload delivery and execution of a specific set of tasks.

Our Vision & Goals

Our vision is to become a thriving community of roboticists, unmanned systems developers, and engineers, a think tank that pioneers groundbreaking solutions in robotics, unmanned systems and defence. We aspire to be a key contributor to the UAS industry by fostering impactful advancements, enabling industry-academia collaboration, and driving meaningful contributions through research and development.

Immediate Goal: Successfully represent IITM and INDIA at SUAS 2025, June 24-26th showcasing our product and innovation to a global audience.

Near - Future Goal: Develop a market-ready product derived from our SUAS solution & publish research findings to contribute to the knowledge base of the unmanned systems field.

How can you help!

With designs and simulations nearly complete, we require around 30 lakhs of funds that are majorly divided in four categories.
  • Competition Entry Fee
  • Product Development/Fabrication cost
  • Tools & Safety equipment cost
  • Logistic expenses (for 8 members)

By supporting us you’re not just investing in a project—you’re empowering a community of future engineers and innovators dedicated to making a difference in the field of Aerospace & Defence.
