ENVISION | INNOVATE | ITERATE
Team SUAS is IIT Madras's International aerial robotics team. Starting with just 4 members in 2024 to a 22-member diverse team, our mission is to bridge academic theory and real-world application in autonomous flight.
SUAS 2025 Achievements : As IITM's first international aerial robotics team, we achieved:
- 8th Globally for our Technical Design Report.
- 18th Globally for our Team Website.
- 23rd Globally in Mission Demonstration.
- Successfully demonstrated autonomous flight with full Robonation approval.
The 2026 Competitive Season : We are competing in two prestigious platforms this year:
- SUAS 2026 (Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA): Demonstrating fully autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, and payload delivery.
- Aerothon SAE India: Our domestic debut, strengthening ties with India's aerospace ecosystem.
Vision for 2026 :
- Architectural shift to ROS2 and more compact systems.
- Higher endurance with current capabilities reaching speeds of 72 kmph and 5kg payload capacity.
- Continued collaboration with the Indian Army and local startups.
Long Term Vision: Build a self sufficient innovation community dedicated to autonomous solutions.
