Prof. K.A. Padmanabhan Institute Chair Endowment - IIT Madras
Prof. K.A. Padmanabhan (Prof. KAP, as he is popularly known) served the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department, IIT Madras for nearly two and a half decades. Prof. KAP’s accomplishments are many. He is well known for his contributions in the field of superplasticity, plasticity, sheet metal formability, metal forming, fatigue, etc.
At IIT Madras, he held various important positions like Head, Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Founding Chairman of GATE, Dean (Academic Research), etc.
He was also Director of IIT Kanpur between 1997 and 2001.
