It was such a memorable event indeed to have the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar, inaugurate the new Centre for Innovation (CFI) facility located within the state-of-the-art expansive facility, the Sudha and Shankar Innovation Hub (SSIH)*, dedicated to Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) activities on IIT Madras (IITM) Campus. The landmark event on 28th February 2023 involved the official inauguration of the CFI facility, followed by address by Hon. The SSIH is IIT-M's first architect-designed built space dedicated to student-led activities and is funded by Alumni and Government contributions, and hosts various key bodies, including the Center for Innovation (CFI), Nirmaan and GDC (Gopalkrishnan Deshpande Centre).
Some of the key highlights of the SSIH teams include establishing 12 world records, the genesis of 200+ startups, 15+ industry projects of CFI, 10+ partnerships with Non-profits and 30+ national and international awards received till date! With 2000+ students. faculty and other teams involved, the SSIH sees a footfall of 150+ students on a daily basis involving in 100+ exciting projects.
