About this cause
Prof. Anju Chadha graduated her Bachelor’s degree in 1975 from Nowrosjee Wadia College. Later in 1977, she did her M. Sc., from the University of Pune and completed her Ph. D., from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore where she focused on bio-organic chemistry. She is an Indian biochemist and is currently a professor at the department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Her research Interest includes Asymmetric Synthesis using enzymes, Bio catalysis and Enzyme Mechanisms, Bio nanotechnology, Biosensors, Chirotechnology, Enzymes in Organic Synthesis and Green Chemistry.
She has various publications at her credit and these were well received. She has also received various recognitions and honours. Various awards include Maharashtra State Government Scholarship (1975-1977), Mrs. Hanumantha Rao Medal for the Best Thesis in the Science Faculty, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India (1985), Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship, Germany (1992-1993), Fogarty International Fellowship, NIH, USA (1985-1988), Prof. S K Chatterjee for an outstanding Women Scientist, IISc, 2016, and International Women’s Day Award from the University of Madras for contributions in the field of Science, 8th March, 2011.
We request all alumni who have interacted with Prof Anju, and have fond memories with her, to sponsor the Chair she occupies. An Institute Chair requires an Endowment of Rs 65 lakhs ($ 100K), and the annual returns from the principal will be used to sustain the Chair.

How the money will be used The endowment interest will be used to fund a salary increment for the awarded Professors for the Chair. The occupant of the Chair is Prof. Anju Chadha
